Wine vs Vintages

Step by step written instructions below.

In GWDB we list wines and then list the vintages within that wine. You are also able to label a wine as non-vintage. DO NOT create a new wine for every vintage, create a new vintage only.

To create a new wine, visit your winery profile. Then click Add New Wine, as shown below:

Then you will be taken to a page that looks like this:

From here, click Create New Wine (you can add subsequent vintages once the wine is created). You will then be asked to add information on the Country and Appellation. Once done, click ‘Continue’ in the bottom right.

The next step will be to add the first vintage of this particular wine. Do not include the vintage year in the wine name. If this wine is non-vintage, click the button as shown below:

You will also be able to enter the wine name and a short description. This description will apply to all the vintages of this wine. Once completed, click Continue in the bottom right corner as in the example below:

Next, you will find yourself at Basic Composition. The more detail entered here the better, however it is not necessary to fill in every field. The only required sections are wine name, wine colour, wine style, vintage year, and country. Once done, click Continue :

The next step is adding a bottle image. For best results, we suggest using a high-quality JPEG or PNG against a white background up to 10MB per image. It is very important that the image is clear and has little to no background. Please avoid using a label image as a bottle image; a bottle image is a much better visual representation of the wine. After you have added the image, hover your mouse over it to find the pencil icon. Choose Set as Bottle Shot Image from the dropdown menu:

Your wine is now created. We recommend adding as much detail to the vintage as possible. To do so, click Add Advanced Details:

To add/edit the vintage year, varieties, and location, go to the Basic Info (required). Click Save Changes when done:

To add/edit any information on the scientific details and production of the wine, go to Scientific Details. Click Save Changes when done:

The final place to add information on the vintage is Marketing Info. You can add details such as growing conditions, winemaking, harvest, aging, and bottling. You can also add information relevant to the consumer such as nose, appearance, palette, and food pairing. As well, you can add the local price, where to purchase, recommended drinking range and more. Click Save Changes when done.

You will now return to your completed vintage profile. To add another vintage to this specific wine, go to your winery’s profile and click Wines:

Then click the wine that you would like to add a vintage for:

There are two ways to add a new vintage. The first is at the bottom of the wine profile by clicking Add Vintage:

The second is to click Actions in the upper right corner and selecting Create new vintage from the dropdown menu:

Both options take you to the same place where you can repeat the same process as above to add a new vintage. Note that if you add a new bottle shot, it will update the bottle shot for the entire wine range, not just the individual vintages.
